Fruit Still Life

This is a piece I completed a while back; it was actually the first full paper graphite drawing I've ever made. Looking back at it now I can see how much I've learned and grown as an artist, and the things I would do differently. The biggest fault I see in this piece is the overall gray look; I had trouble making dark shadows and light highlights. Since this is the first drawing I made, however, I'm proud of it. It was a challenge, but fun to do. =)

  1. I think this is a very successful piece with the textures you were trying to achieve. The apple is very well done, which is a good thing, because it is the focus of your piece. And as usual, my only criticism is the apple overlapping the line on the right side of the page, it gives the appearance that the apple is in fron of the object, but it still somewhat appears as though it should be behind it. :)

  2. Other than the leaning apple of Pisa, I really enjoy this piece for its shading. You really made things... glow. The light spots mirror real life in a way that makes me want to say, "Good eye, Kelly!"

  3. Other than the perspective mismatch of the apple, this piece is great in shading, texture, and form! The focus of your piece is clear, the lines are blend well with the shading, and it is overall very well done.
