Candy Apple

This drawing started with a regular apple, but as it progressed the drawing became less about the apple and more about color and the shapes within the fruit. The contour lines are meant to show form, and I decided to make each one a solid color to play on the idea that every object contains every color. I'm very pleased with this piece. I think it's fun to look at and can be viewed on many different levels. The lines and bands create a separation in the apple, but I feel like the colors pull it together as one object. Enjoy!

  1. I still love how psychedelic this piece is. It really directs the eye in crazy directions all over the piece, and it still seems to be solid. I only wish you'd kept the outside boring on the other slice, so that it could be consistent, but it looks good anyway.

  2. Kelly! really like the way you colored this piece - it takes a kinda boring subject and makes it into something interesting and intriguing. It also kind of reminds me of a pinata for some reason... which is ALWAYS a good thing :). Keep up the good work. I can tell you put a lot of time into your art and it's paying off.

  3. This is such an interesting piece! The color you added is so fun! Normally, a simple apple drawing would be a bit dull, but the color makes it pop and attracts the eye! It's such great work!
